Nell’ Huanghuagang (The Hill of Yellow Flower), ovvero il Mausoleo dei 72 Martiri di Guangzhou domina trionfante una replica della Statua della Libertà.

Il Memorial Park commemora la rivoluzione insorta il 27 aprile del 1911 prima della caduta dell’ultima dinastia cinese. La statua è stata rimossa due volte, una volta dal Kuomintang e successivamente durante la rivoluzione culturale, quando il sito fu completamente distrutto. Hanno contribuito alla ricostruzione del monumento non solo organizzazioni della Cina continentale, ma anche organizzazioni di cinesi da tutte le parti del mondo, moltissime sino-americane, persino di località che spesso non sono immediatamente associate ai rapporti con la Cina come Nebraska, Utah, o come Guantanamo.

Tips: The Statue of Liberty in China. Hundreds of smaller replicas of the Statue of Liberty have been created worldwide. One is located in Guangzhou at Huanghuagang, in the 72 Martyrs Memorial Park. The Statue of Liberty was removed twice; once by the Kuomintang and then during the Cultural Revolution. Many overseas Chinese organizations have donated money toward the park’s construction.
